“If your teen is pregnant and deathly afraid to come to you, especially if that fear is reasonable in light of the fact that you would indeed disown her or beat her up or respond in some other emotionally or physically abusive way, I’d still rather she go to Planned Parenthood or an emergency clinic and discuss her medical conditions, history, etc. with a health professional than take matters into her own hands. The problem is that thick-headed parents think they know everything. What is it with parents? They get so used to their children looking up to them as god-like figures that they start to believe it?

I bet every parent that this describes thinks that they’re absolutely approachable and open. Psssh…
