I stood up from my laptop and duffel bag today at Bradley airport in Hartford, CT, and got yelled at from 8 feet away by a security guard on his break. He was on the phone.
I pointed to the United counter I was headed towards, about 25 feet away, and said “Even if it’s within visual range?” He replied no.
I came back and said to him, “By the time you leaned over to pick up one of my bags I’d have you tackled, even from over there.” I then proceeded to pack up my shit and walk it all over to the counter, where I asked my question.
Now, what exactly does the unattended baggage policy say? It’s based on a federal law, right? Is it unattended if the owner turns up less than 3 seconds after someone approaches an “unattended” bag?
Bastards. That one little exchange ruined my morning.
