A friend of mine told me recently that my fingernail issue (see last entry) was a matter of common sense. He noted a few times in history when I’ve acted like a total knucklehead in his house, too, comparing me to other geeky friends of his. He did note that I got better at certain bad habits once he gave me crap about them (like, for instance, eating all of his spinach salad — interestingly, I left the Budweiser :-) ). So I guess I’m a geeky left-brained weirdo at heart, after all. Oh well. At least I’m teachable.
In other news, I’m in snowy Conneticut for a few days. I can’t tell you much about the area other than that my hotel is absolutely gorgeous — a bigger room than Waikiki and what has to be the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Yay for Marriott.
My well-pampered Acura with only 80K miles suddenly died on me last week. It was disastrously expensive — or at least, it will be, when I actually pay for it. It’s in the shop until Friday. The shitty part is my lease was up in another three weeks… I think I’m keeping the car now. It’s getting a new engine.
I hate to say it, but I’m pretty confident that it was sabotage. There’s only one man I know of who has both the motivation and sufficient insanity. I wonder how many dollars it has to cost me before karma comes around? Seems like I’ve been waiting on that merry-go-round for a long, long time.
And oh, hey, if anyone out there knows how to get a Microsoft .NET Compact Framework Service Pack to install silently on a Windows Mobile 5 device, please tell me how. I’d kinda be the hero of the week if I could get that to work in the next 18 hours. :-)
Speaking of geeky issues, why did some idiot at Dell tell me I needed to install DDR RAM in pairs earlier today? Sigh. I guess it’s nice to feel a little job security once awhile, huh? (That hasn’t been the case since, what, 72 pin SIMMs in the early 90s?)
Finally, I’ll leave you with this little amusement. I can tell I’m over my ex. How? I dreamt about basketball last night instead of women. That’s right, instead of nostalgic thoughts of dead relationships, I woke up this morning with the memory of eating toast with Kobe Bryant. He was pretty nice in my dream.
Didn’t even complain about there being no butter.
