SBC doesn’t allow outbound connections on port 25 over their network. Or, at least, it doesn’t on residential connections.
I understand — it’s an anti-spam measure — but it’s a royal pain in my arse. Hunting down the never-used sbcglobal.net email account and then running around to every mail client and reconfiguring it manually SUCKS.
(Yes, I could (re)write the autoconfig script, but it’s one of those instances where the total number of clients is low enough so that it doesn’t warrant any engineering.)
Boy, do I ever miss the days before spam, antivirus paranoia, and shoe-searching airport security.
